Holy Cross, Ramsbury is an extraordinarily beautiful church, steeped in history dating back to Saxon times, when the first Bishop of Ramsbury was created in 909 AD. It was an important early church with several of its bishops becoming Archbishops of Canterbury. In 1058, it joined Sherborne to form the diocese of Sarum and in 1275 moved to the present cathedral site in Salisbury. In 1974 the Bishop of Ramsbury was reinstated and continues as a suffragan bishop in the Diocese of Salisbury.

The cost of maintaining this historic Grade 1 listed church is substantial and every year approximately £100,000 has to be raised to literally ‘keep the roof on’ and run this important and much loved church. Several events are held throughout the year in support of the church and there are over 500 loyal Friends of Holy Cross who provide essential support to maintain the fabric of the church through their fundraising and regular donations.
